6th session of the Joint steering Committee Concludes in Entebbe

The Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE) held its 6th Joint Steering Committee Meeting on 8th and 9th November 2023. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Lisa Buttenheim, Assistant Secretary General for Support Operations in the Department of Operational Support (DOS).

The Joint Steering Committee is a high-level forum where strategic matters are discussed, and direction provided to the RSCE and KJSO for their operational and transactional activities. It is comprised of the ASG for Support Operations, the Director of the Human Resources Services Division (HRSD) in the Department of Operational Support, a representative from the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC), the Director of the RSCE, the Chief of the Kuwait Joint Support Office (KJSO), and the Chairpersons of the RSCE and KJSO Client Boards.

The 2-day meeting discussed issues surrounding operational performance, client service delivery, Projects, process improvement initiatives, Human Resources, and staffing related issues, matters of governance and administration and Compliance and Risk Management. The committee also brainstormed on sustainability of both centers as we witness a reduction in footprint in client entities and a changing global political landscape. Mr. Rick Martin, Director of the Division of Special Activities presented a report via Video Teleconference on the development of the Secretariat’s Global Operational Support Architecture that aims to improve service delivery in the United Nations.

In attendance were the Director RSCE, Mr. Paulin Djomo, Deputy Director RSCE, Ms. Nalini Contreras, Chief of the Kuwait Joint Support Office, Mr. Zewdu Tegen, The Chairpersons of the RSCE and KJSO Client Boards, Mr. Ebrima Ceesay and Mr. Joel Cohen, KJSO Deputy Chief Rodelito Juan, Mr. Arnab Roy, Director HRSD, Ms. Maria Costa from DMSPC and Administrative Officer, Cristal Tojeiro from OSO/DOS.
